As of February 6, 2025, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has started placing and paying 10,000 young people in different organizations. This is part of a one-year training program to help youths in the Niger Delta region learn practical skills and become self-reliant.
You could recall that the NDDC launchwd the youth scheme in 2024. This program follows President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to create opportunities and hope for young Nigerians.
What This Means for Beneficiaries?
The NDDC has selected 10,000 young people to take part in this training. These selected youths are being placed in different workplaces to gain hands-on experience. At the same time, they will receive a monthly stipend, which means they will be paid every month while they learn.
This program is to help young people develop skills that can help them get jobs or start their own businesses. If you are part of this program, it is a great opportunity to learn and grow.
The selection process was done carefully, fairly, and openly. Many young people—over 3.2 million—applied for this opportunity. Since the number of applicants was very high, only 10,000 could be chosen.
The NDDC made sure to pick those who truly needed the training and were ready to make the best use of it. This is to ensure that the program makes a real difference in the lives of the selected youth.
Many young people in the Niger Delta region have skills and dreams but need support to achieve them. This program is designed to give them the right training and experience to succeed in life.
Also, the NDDC has created a digital system where they keep important details about youths in the region. This system helps them understand the skills, needs, and job status of young people. With this information, the NDDC can create more programs that will benefit the youths in the future.
To make sure everything is done properly, the NDDC partnered with KPMG, a well-known global company. KPMG has helped create a report that will guide the NDDC in making good decisions and improving their programs.
The NDDC is committed to working with community leaders, youth groups, and other important people to improve the Niger Delta region. They understand that real change happens when everyone works together.
The Commission thanks the young people who applied for the program and appreciates their patience during the selection process.
