Both Venmo and Cash App are primarily designed for peer-to-peer transfers, positioning them as competitors in the market. However, collaboration between competitors can lead to remarkable outcomes. And one such outcome that users often wonder about is how to transfer money from Venmo to Cash App.
Unfortunately, there is no direct method for transferring money from Venmo to Cash App since you won’t find a Send to Cash App option when using the former. Nevertheless, there are several indirect ways available. You can transfer money from Venmo to Cash App through direct deposit, by using the Cash Card feature, or by linking your Venmo and Cash App accounts to a bank account, which serves as an intermediary.
Can you transfer money from Venmo to Cash App?
You can’t officially transfer money from Venmo to Cash App—these two apps do not have direct support for each other. Although there is a walk-around, you can’t transfer money from your Venmo account to another person’s Cash App but you can if you have two personal accounts on both Venmo and Cash App.

How to transfer money from Venmo to Cash App
Now, let’s discuss the process of transferring money from Venmo to Cash App, which is the topic you came here for. There are three methods available, and we’ll go through them individually.
1. Transfer money from Venmo to Cash App through direct deposit
Set up direct deposit in your Cash App account, which turns your Cash App account into a bank, enabling your Venmo account to transfer money between the two apps. Here’s how you can get started:
a. Open My Cash tab on Cash App
Launch Cash App on your device and tap the dollar sign ($) on the homepage. This will take you to the My Cash tab.
b. Select Cash
On the following screen, choose the cash icon located in the bottom menu to proceed.
c. Choose Direct Deposit
Now, tap on Direct Deposit and select the option to get your account number. A pop-up menu will appear, and you should choose the Enable Account option.
d. Copy your account details
Copy your account details by tapping on Copy Account Details listed under your account information. Make sure to copy both the routing number and the account number by selecting the respective options.
e. Go to Venmo App Settings
Next, you need to add your Cash App account credentials to the Venmo app. Open Venmo and access its settings by tapping the three horizontal lines (hamburger menu).
f. Select Payment Methods
Within the Settings menu, tap on Payment Methods and choose the option to add a bank or card. Then, select Bank.
g. Paste your Cash App account details
Finally, choose your preferred verification method and paste the copied details from Cash App (routing and account numbers) into the appropriate fields in Venmo.
Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process to transfer money from Venmo to Cash App. Your Cash App account now functions as a bank, allowing you to transfer money between Venmo and Cash App seamlessly. You can send funds back and forth between both apps just as you would with a standard bank account.
2. Transfer money from Venmo to Cash App using Cash Card
You can fund Cash App from Venmo using the Cash Card associated with your Cash App account. Follow the steps below to use your Cash Card for money transfers between Venmo and Cash App:
a. Open Payment Methods in Venmo
Launch the Venmo app on your device and tap the hamburger menu icon to access the app’s settings. From the menu, select Payment Methods.
b. Add the Card
Tap on the Add a Bank or Card option and choose Card to proceed.
c. Provide your Cash Card details
Enter the required information for your Cash Card in the designated fields. You have two options to input the details: manually typing them or using your mobile phone’s camera. It is recommended to use the camera option to minimize the risk of entering incorrect card information.
Once your Cash Card is successfully linked, you can send money from Venmo to the Cash App Cash Card and use it just like any other debit card.
3. Set up an intermediary bank to send funds from Venmo to Cash App
Although it may be time-consuming, this method is effective for transferring money between Venmo and Cash App. It involves linking both apps to a bank account that serves as an intermediary.
a. Add the Bank Account to Venmo
Launch the Venmo app and make sure to add your bank account to your Venmo account. Ensure that the bank account is verified, as this is necessary to transfer money from Venmo to Cash App.
b. Choose Transfer to Bank
Locate the three-line icon on Venmo’s homepage and click on it. Then, select either Transfer Money or Transfer to Bank. You can also access this option through the Manage Balance section.
c. Enter the Transfer Amount
On the next screen, enter the amount you want to transfer from Venmo to Cash App. Proceed to the next step.
d. Select the Transfer Method
You will need to choose between two transfer methods: That is, Instant transfer and 1-3 Business Days Transfer.
With the Instant transfer, your money will be sent within 30 minutes, but a fee of 1% of the total amount will be charged. On the other hand, the second option is free, but the transfer may take up to 3 business days.
After selecting the transfer method, choose your bank account and review the details before clicking the Transfer button. At this point, you have successfully transferred the money from Venmo to the intermediary bank account.
e. Open the Balance Tab in Cash App
Launch the Cash App and open the Balance tab on the homepage.
f. Transfer Money from Venmo to Cash App
In the Balance tab, select Add Cash and enter the amount you transferred from Venmo to the intermediary bank. Click Add to proceed. Finally, confirm the transfer by verifying your identity using Touch ID or your PIN.
Once the transfer is successful, the money will be transferred from Venmo to your Cash App. Despite the somewhat lengthy process, it is worth trying out.

What are my fees?
You have the option of an instant transfer to your eligible bank account or Cah App Cash Card. This type of transfer carries a 1.75% fee, with a minimum charge of $0.25 and a maximum charge of $25 deducted from the transfer amount for each transaction. Alternatively, you can choose a standard transfer through the ACH network to your verified checking account. This transfer method is free of charge, but it usually takes 1-3 business days for the funds to arrive after you initiate the transfer.
Why is Venmo rejecting my Cash App Cash Card?
Venmo keeps declining your Cash App Cash Card due to:
- Your bank, Visa, or Cash App is declining the transaction.
- Your payment triggered Venmo’s automated security flags.
If your payment is funded by Cash Card, reach out to Cash App, your bank, or card issuer directly. If your bank, Cash App, or card issuer is declining the transaction, Venmo help.
Your best bet is to use a different payment method such as a different card or bank account.
