Situations may arise where you must combine your gift cards into one balance. Thus, this article explains how to consolidate gift cards into one easily.
You can combine multiple gift cards into one card by exchanging them on websites like CardCash, Gift Card Granny, or Raise for a single store or brand-name gift card. You can also trade in multiple cards through a store’s card exchange program for a single card. Before making a choice, check the exchange rate or fee to ensure you get the best deal.
In most cases, the gift cards must be from the same company or issuing store. In this case, if you have different cards, use the existing ones to purchase the gift cards of the company you want to consolidate your cards.
Aside from the methods listed here, there are also other ways to consolidate gift cards into one, and I will explain and show you in detail.
Is it Possible to consolidate multiple gift cards into One?
You can consolidate multiple gift cards. However, you have to have similar gift cards for them to work. If you do not have similar gift cards, use the different cards for the single gift card you want.
For example, suppose you have Amazon ($16.66 balance) and Walmart ($20.99) gift cards but want to buy from Amazon. Use the Walmart card to buy an Amazon gift card of the same value and add it to the Amazon account.
Different Ways to consolidate gift cards into one
This section shows the various ways you can consolidate gift cards:
1. Consolidate Visa Gift Cards on Amazon
So, first, let’s begin by consolidating multiple Visa gift cards on Amazon. These cards are ones that often have a small purchase charge. Imagine you have a few of these cards as gifts and want to buy something on Amazon that costs more than what’s on any single card. Here’s what to do:
These Visa gift cards work in most stores and online, but you need to register them first. For example, if you have a Vanilla Visa gift card, go to vanillagift.com to register it. You’ll enter details such as the card number and security code, then check the balance. There’s an option to register the card, where you’ll provide your name and phone number. This is necessary for online shopping.
Let’s say you have several of these cards and want to buy something expensive on Amazon. First, register each card. Then, go to your Amazon account and search for ‘reload gift card balance’. Click on the option to reload your Amazon gift card balance. You can do this multiple times with different Visa gift cards.
When you choose to reload, enter the amount from your Visa gift card and select ‘buy now’. Amazon will ask for a payment method. Here, you add your Visa gift card details, including the address you registered with. Complete the purchase, and the amount will transfer to your Amazon gift card balance in a few minutes. You can check this balance in your Amazon account under ‘gift cards’.
Of course, you can simply repeat this process to consolidate gift cards, i.e., combine the balances of all your Visa gift cards into your Amazon account. Then, you can use this combined balance to make your desired purchase on Amazon. You can consolidate many Amazon gift cards without a fee. Your fund does not also expire and you can buy any item of your choice.
2. eBay allows gift card consolidation
eBay allows you to add multiple gift cards. And as mentioned earlier, these cards must be eBay cards as third-party gift cards will not work. After applying for your first eBay gift card, type in the next gift card and apply it the same way you apply other gift card purchases. When you click apply, eBay automatically takes the gift card amount off the balance and permits you to use your next card or coupon.
Let’s go over it again so you understand how this works and not get confused. When you’re at the checkout on eBay, you can use up to eight eBay gift cards. Choose Paypal as your payment method and log in. After logging in, scroll down on the checkout page to find a place to enter your eBay gift card codes. Enter them one after the other.
But you can only use one VISA, MC, AMEX, or Discover gift card at checkout. After applying the first gift card, type in another and apply it. This is how it usually works with gift cards, and eBay probably does it the same way. When you press APPLY, it subtracts the amount from your balance and lets you use the next card or coupon.
3. Sell your gift cards for cash
Instead of consolidating your gift cards into one balance, you can sell them for the money. Some websites allow you to sell all kinds of gift cards while they serve as transaction escrow. Note, however, that it is against the policy of most gift card issuers for you to sell or exchange gift cards. If the issuing company detects this, the gift card may be disabled.
Alternatively, you can sell your gift card to friends and family members, or any person you trust.
Some mobile apps also allow selling or exchanging gift cards on their website. Note that any online service (app or website) you use will charge a fee – typically an escrow fee.
4. Consolidate your gift cards with Walmart
Like Amazon, Walmart will not consolidate third-party gift cards. Therefore, you have to buy new Walmart gift cards with your existing gift card.
So, the thing about consolidating gift cards on Walmart is that if you have 2 or more Walmart Gift Cards, you combine them by first purchasing one new Walmart Gift Card with a balance equal to the total of your current Walmart Gift Cards.
Walmart also allows you to use multiple methods of payment. This will enable you to use multiple gift cards with small balances toward the new Walmart gift card payment. For instance, if you have multiple gift cards of $10, $5, and $25, you use all three gift cards to purchase a $40 Walmart gift card. With your new Walmart gift card, you can select any item you want to buy from the Walmart store.
5. Use Google Wallet App
Like loyalty cards, you may not have the complete gift card balance when needed. But with Google Wallet App, you can store your multiple gift cards, and even let a cashier scan them from your phone.
While you can consolidate gift cards on Google Wallet app, it has limits on gift cards you can add. Google only allows you to add up to 10 cards total and 5 cards per merchant. If you have multiple gift cards from the same merchant, simply ask the merchant to consolidate your gift cards into one card. Then, you can add it to your wallet.
To add a gift card to your Google Pay, go to the card sections, select the (+) floating button, and click Add a gift card. The new screen will display a list of nearby gift card retailers. You may also search for shops that will accept your gift card.
Enter your gift card information such as card number and security code. Enter the gift card amount, and you are done.
6. Combine gift cards using an Apple wallet
Apple Wallet is another gift card consolidation solution. You will be able to use up to 8 Apple Store gift cards at Apple online store. This also means that if you have gift cards different from Apple gift cards, you have to purchase Apple gift cards with them to be eligible for this gift card consolidation.
You are also allowed to combine your Apple gift card with a credit card if you do not have a sufficient gift card balance.
You only have to enter the gift card PIN you see on the back of your gift card. This may be concealed in the scratch-off area. If you have an Apple eGift card, you can find the PIN in the email you receive.
7. Consolidate Target gift cards
Target makes it easy to consolidate their gift cards. Simply select My GiftCards from your Target account and select one gift card from the list. Next, click Combine.
You may notice a slight delay after saving and combining your gift cards. After the gift card is consolidated successfully, you get a success message. You may repeat these steps for all your gift cards. Finally, check your Target gift card balance for the updated balance.
8. Consolidate hotels.com gift cards
If you are looking to book accommodation, hotels.com gift cards may be what you need to consolidate your gift cards. You can buy multiple hotels.com gift cards and combine the balances into one gift card.
I’ll explain how to consolidate your Hotels.com gift cards. If you have more than one gift card, you can’t combine them in the app. Instead, use a web browser to visit this link, which I’ll put in the video description. On this link, you’ll find an option to merge your gift card balances. This lets you combine multiple gift cards into one. You’ll enter each gift card number, and it will give you a new card number for the combined balance. 9. Uber
If you have an Uber account, you need gift cards to add Uber credits. You have to redeem your gift card in the following steps:
- Get the latest version of the Uber app. Updated versions typically fix security bugs.
- Click the menu icon and select Payment.
- Click Add Payment Method.
- Select Gift Card.
- Enter the gift code without spaces.
Note that you cannot transfer your gift cards once added to your Uber account.
Also, you cannot reload a gift card, but Uber allows you to add up to $1,000 in gift card credits to your account. You can add more credits as you use them up.
10. Combine Multiple Starbucks gift cards
After the holidays, you might have a lot of Starbucks gift cards. You can add them to the Starbucks app to keep track of your points. If you end up with several card profiles in the app, I’ll show you how to combine them into one.
First, open the Starbucks app and tap the Gift button at the bottom of the homepage. Choose ‘Got A Gift Card’ at the top. Then, enter the Starbucks Card Number and Security Code from the back of your gift card. Tap ‘Add Card’ when you’re done. You can also scan the barcode on the card if you prefer.
Once all your gift cards are added, tap the Scan button in the app. You’ll see all your cards. Pick one to be your main card. For example, if the third card is your main one, you’ll move all the balances to that card. Go to a card, tap ‘Manage’, then ‘Transfer Balance’. Choose to transfer from this card to your main card. After transferring, the balance will show as $0 on the old card.
To tidy up, go back to the card with $0, tap ‘Manage’, then ‘Remove Card’. Do this for all your gift cards. In the end, you’ll have one card with the total balance of all your gift cards. That’s how you combine your Starbucks gift cards in the app.
